    All the previous pieces were the cups and the bowls, but this is the tea-caddy, a vessel for storage of tea blend. The characters of the first line of the verse were carved into the coloured clay surface, in the genuine brushwork manner of Basho. Next comes a curved trunk of an old tree, on the naked branch of which one's imagination can draw the raven, according to the text of this, probably, most known of Basho's poems. Cold and dim colours of an autumn twilight add more unity to the whole impression.

    On a bare tree branch
    The raven is roosting.
    The autumn evening.…
