Tanka is an old traditional japanese poetical form.It covers more than fifteen centuries of history of culture as a sumbol of the greatest acheivements of japanese poetry. Sometimes it is impossible to deliver the syllabic forms inherent to tanka /5-7-5-7-5/using the resource of another language. Being translatred, the tanka poems usially looks like a five-line poem without a rhyme, but always have some gentle rhythm. A vividness, integral property of tanka poetry, helps to handle it in E-UTA form. Besides of all, this is a very substantial poetry. Tanka gives a wide range of choice: this is necessary to depict, that is better to write, and all the rest you would better pass over in silence.

Here is a gallery of works of E-Uta genre on the tanka poems. Clic on the image, to go to page dedicated to bowl you like.

    My love is so strong!
    It broke my heart
    To thousand of pieces.
    Why do you
    Know not of?
    Otomo Iakomotu

    I've seen a summer field.
There shined in all the colours
    Innumerable flowers.
    Today they're killed by frost
    And colourless…
    Syghio

    Ye, cuckoo, my friend!
    When, after my death,
I'll walk by the mountain path -
Let me hear your voice again
The same - and about the same.
    Syghio

    Smoke above the Fuji…
    It is carried by wind,
    Rise to the heaven
    And disappear -
As if to show my way.
    Syghio

    Mountain stream!
Waves cnock a stone by stone,
    Beat out the fire.
    Fireflys above the water
    Fly like the sparks.
    Siotatsu

    Hoarfrost covers
    The withered grass
    On a sorrowful meadow.
    A stranger's heart,
    There is your consolation?
    Syghio
